What does Winston Churchill means "You cant Win a War From Retreating"
Basically Winston Churchill is stating that nothing was still accomplished by escaping death. They may have saved 340,000 men from evacuating but what did it truly accomplish? It only accomplished survival and they got to keep some of their troops. They were surrounded and simply retreated which accomplished nothing within the war. They were suppose to defend their boundaries and yet just evacuated because they were surrounded which ultimately achieved nothing. If the men went forward and advanced to defend off germans coming in, and having a conflict, that would of been an achievement. Im sure Churchill was satisfied with their escape but deeply disappointed that his men were lacking courage to stand up to the War at hand, and celebrating the little things.
